Being’s Recovery in Art aims to shift the focus of conversations about mental health from symptoms and illness, towards recovery, wellness, autonomy and connection with others. It is a wonderful demonstration that every person’s recovery experience is unique, just like their experience of mental health issues. This year nearly 50 artists with a lived experience of mental health issues submitted their artwork for display.
We are thrilled to have the exhibition at NSW Parliament House this year, where our politicians will see first hand how important a person’s recovery journey is, and the vital role artistic expression can play in that. The exhibition is organised by Being, the peak body representing people with mental health issues in NSW.
