MHCN are participants in the MindOut Champions project which aims to improve the capacity of the organisation to identify, respond and address the mental health and wellbeing needs of LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) people, and to furthermore ensure that services and programmes are LGBTI inclusive, culturally safe and accessible.
An LGBTI Champion is an identified person within the organisation who is tasked with assisting the organisation to optimise its service delivery to LGBTI people by ensuring that the service is responsive, inclusive and safe.
MHCN appointed Program Manager Caitlin Bambridge as the organisation’s MindOut Champion, until Caitlin’s departure to ACON in late 2017. Policy Officer Laura Knight has now been appointed as the organisations MindOut Champion. She will be working in partnership with Champions from BEING: Mental Health & Wellbeing Consumer Advisory Group & WayAhead to ensure safe and inclusive practice across all Collective Purpose services.
