MHCN is currently co-designing a Mental Health Carer Network Register funded by the Mental Health Commission of NSW to support their Lived Experience Framework. The Network Register is an exciting project that will become the go-to hub for carers in NSW to connect with one another, access training modules, digital resources, and engage in advocacy activities to improve service. The goal of the Network Register is to make sure that carers are empowered in their advocacy and that their experiences and expertise are embedded throughout service design and reform.
As part of this project’s co-design, MHCN is conducting the first round of research via an online survey about what motivates carers, families, and kinship groups to get involved in advocacy activities and what barriers have impacted their ability to participate. This survey will also be used to create a list of interested carers who would like to be involved in our next round of consultation as well as Network Register activities, future advocacy opportunities, and training.
MHCN would love to hear from you about your experiences engaging in advocacy, what has motivated you, and what barriers you think can impact carers and their ability to participate. With National Carers Week coming up very soon, your feedback will help MHCN promote improved and increased carer engagement across the sector.
If you would like to share your advocacy experience, please click the link to be taken to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PHYM7JG
The survey will take between 8-10 minutes to be complete and your information will be kept secure and confidential. The survey closes Friday 16th October.
If you have any questions about the survey or would like more information about the Mental Health Carer Network Register, please contact Alyce Cannon – Project Manager – firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your ongoing engagement with Mental Health Carers NSW. With your input, we can help a carer community that is empowered and supported in their advocacy.
