Laura Knight, Events, Communications and Administration Officer
Laura has a Bachelor of Arts in History Politics and Philosophy from Western Sydney University 2011, a Certificate IV in Mental Health, and a Diploma in Community Services (Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs). Laura began her student placement as part of her Diploma studies in 2015, and eventually transitioned to casual work in 2015 to full time work at the beginning of 2017.
Laura has also worked with organisations such as Being and WayAhead in their anxiety support program, and from 2017 – 2018 was the coordinator of the Sydney BPD Mental Health Professionals Network Meetings.
Laura is the Secretariat to MHCN Carer Peak Advisory Committees (Younger Persons, Older Persons, Drug & Alcohol and General), provides policy writing support, development of resources and materials, social media updates, website maintenance, graphic design, event coordinator for MHCNs Mental Health Carer & Support Worker Forums, interviews and inducts new staff, students and volunteers, answering the Carers Connection Helpline, providing support to other staff, students and volunteers answering the Helpline, and much more.
Laura has lived experience of being a young carer, and is proud to work for an organisation representing carer’s views.
When Laura is not at MHCN, she usually has her head in a book or is watching cat videos.
