Peta Smit-Colbran, Policy Officer
Peta completed a Diploma of Community Services in 2017 and is currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of New South Wales. While studying Community Services, Peta completed a student placement at MHCN and was subsequently employed as a part of the policy team at MHCN.
As a Policy Officer, Peta’s role involves policy analysis, research, submission writing with a special focus on carer consultation and involvement in policy advocacy. Peta also answers the carer connection telephone line and provides data analysis of calls received to support continual quality improvement.
Peta is passionate about carer and consumer participation in advocacy, service design and policy development. She firmly believes that empowering carers and consumers to have control over the decisions that affect them is the foundation for quality mental health services and policy.
