Mental Health Carers NSW (MHCN) is collaborating with Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC) and UNSW to conduct a study on mental health services and family-focused practice with young people (aged 18 – 25) from Arabic, Mandarin and Vietnamese speaking communities and their families/carers.

We are assisting UNSW to recruit participants for focus group discussions with:

  • Young people (18–25) from Arabic, Mandarin or Vietnamese speaking communities who have experience with mental health services.
  • Family members and carers (18+) from Arabic, Mandarin and Vietnamese speaking communities that care for a young person aged 18 – 25 experiencing mental health challenges.

Participation involves attending one or two 1.5-hour focus groups and completing a short questionnaire beforehand. Participants will be reimbursed for their time. Interpreters and bilingual health professionals will be available.

The study will inform a report and practical resources to support clinicians to deliver culturally sensitive, family-focused care.

If you know a person who may be interested in being a participant and would like support with attaining information included in the flyer in their preferred language, an interpreter can be arranged for this.
