Mental Health Carers NSW

Effective Tuesday 1 July 2025, Mental Health Carers NSW (MHCN) ‘Carer Connections Helpline’ is shutting down.

The national number, 1300 554 660, will be transferred to Arafmi Queensland (https://arafmi.com.au/) and will service carers within Queensland exclusively.

It’s associated line, 02 9332 0700, which previously directed to the Carer Connections Helpline, will cease to operate.

However, Wayahead (https://wayahead.org.au/) is launching their own mental health carer phoneline, called the Wayahead Mental Health Carer Information Line which will replace this service in NSW.

The number for the new Wayahead Mental Health Carer Information Line is 1300 850 236.

MHCN is one of more than 130 organisations calling on the NSW Government to raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility from 10 to at least 14. Additionally, the NSW Government needs to invest in service supports to do better for kids and communities.

@raisetheagensw in partnership with the media and advertising industries, have launched a campaign to educate the public on the age of criminal responsibility and to build support for raising the age.

Shoulder to Shoulder is a pair of @saneaustralia online forums, one for veterans, and one for families and carers, created to offer peer-led, anonymous spaces to connect and be supported 💻

The forum for partners, parents, adult children and carers of veterans is peer-led, anonymous, and moderated by qualified mental health professionals. Co-designed with veteran families, the space is available any time of day and offers connection, practical support, and access to resources from people who understand what it’s like to support someone who served.

Around two-thirds of Aussie men delay seeing a GP, even when they notice a health problem 🩺

This year’s @healthymale_au campaign for Men’s Health Week (June 9 – June 15) encourages men to seek expert advice and prioritise regular health checks — because your health deserves better than guesswork.

By seeing a GP at least every 12 months, men will build a relationship with their doctor ensuring they feel confident and prepared to take action when serious health issues come up.
