📣 National Carers Week, Sunday 12 to Saturday 18 October 2025, is a special time to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of carers across Australia.

This year’s theme, ‘You are one, know one, or will be one,’ reminds us that caring touches everyone at some stage in life. It celebrates the more than 3 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to someone living with disability, mental illness, chronic condition, addiction, or who is frail aged.

Next week, numerous events and activities will be held across the country to acknowledge the vital role of carers within communities and raise awareness about carer experiences.

You’re invited to MHCN’s free Mental Health Month/Carers Week event, Threads of Care, a creative workshop designed especially for mental health carers 🎨

Led by art therapist @lisamcarthuredwards, this workshop offers a mix of gentle movement, writing, and weaving activities that invite carers to pause and reflect on their unique caring journeys in a safe and collaborative space.

There will also be a complimentary afternoon tea provided and a chance to connect with other carers at the end of the session. No creative experience or talent required, and all materials will be provided!

Workshop Details:
When: Friday 17 October 2025 from 9:30am - 4:30pm
Where: Juanita Nielsen Community Centre, Woolloomooloo NSW
Cost: Free!

We want to ensure the voices of carers who support people accessing inpatient rehabilitation services are heard and help guide improvements to inpatient rehabilitation services.

Carers with lived experience supporting someone who has accessed public mental health inpatient rehabilitation services in NSW are encouraged to participate. Participants will be remunerated for their participation.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the Expression of Interest form by Sunday, 19th October.
