📣 MHCN and the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) invite carers to an online focus group on Monday 28 October from 4pm – 5:30pm to provide feedback on a proposed suicide-prevention resource. We are particularly interested in gathering insights on carer experiences from those who have supported a loved one who has used services due to a mental health crisis and/or received Aftercare services.

This resource is for service providers delivering the NSW Universal Aftercare Program which involves non-clinical and rapid, assertive follow-up support for individuals who have experienced suicidal thoughts, behaviours, or attempts. As spaces are limited, there will be a selection process if required and selected participants will receive remuneration for their time and engagement.

The online form takes 2 minutes to complete and closes on Friday 18 October at 5pm.

This year’s @bpdawarenessweek theme aims to provide hope as research shows that with appropriate treatment and support people with BPD `recover` and lead a life that’s meaningful to them. Resources for BPD Awareness Week 2024 include stories from people who live with BPD and those who support or care for them, an extensive list of informational factsheets and much more 💻

The MHCN team had a wonderful time attending the @wayaheadmentalhealth 2024 Mental Health Matters Awards last Friday to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations who provided excellent mental health support in NSW over the past year 🤝

We would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners with a special congratulations to MHCN President, Jenny Learmont, for winning the Julie Leitch Leadership Through Lived Experience Award.

As President of Mental Health Carers NSW, Chair of the Anxiety Disorders Alliance, and a founding member of the NSW Consumers Advisory Committee on Mental Health, Jenny has greatly enhanced support for mental health carers and consumers through her extensive volunteer and governance work. Jenny`s son, Andrew accepted the award on her behalf ⭐
