Date & Time

There are many major support systems available to you if you are caring for a loved one, friend or person with psychosocial disability and/or a mental illness. These programs are provided by both NSW state and federal government and aim to improve the wellbeing and health outcomes of families and carers and the people they support.

They do this by providing services such as one-to-one support and advocacy, coordinating support groups, information and resources, training and education and other activities and include programs such as the Family and Carer Mental Health Program (FCMHP), the Integrated Carer Support Service ICSS – also known as the Carer Gateway) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

While these initiatives provide valuable assistance, it is helpful to know what supports exactly they offer in order to tailor them to your circumstances. This course will give you general knowledge of each of the programs above so that you can confidently and effectively utilise them to your best advantage.

  • Our training is delivered by a carer peer trainer who is empathetic and understanding and offers you the opportunity to meet and connect with other carers.
  • At the end of your session, you will receive a free learner toolkit. This is a invaluable resource which contains information on what you learnt in the training as well as relevant contacts and forms which you may require during times of crisis or when seeking support.
  • MHCN is the peak body for mental health carers in NSW, giving you access to a wealth of insider knowledge and experience gained over many years. This training gives you the opportunity to connect with us and learn more about the work we are doing.
  • You can provide feedback about the training, tell us what you would like to learn more about, how we helped or where we could improve.
